Had some really fun shoots lately and wanted to just share a few favorites... more on my facebook page: www.facebook.com/craighillphotography. I even got to try something new to me... newborn photography!
Had a great July 4th Holiday... got to shoot one of my very favorite models & best friends, Lisa in the morning. It was an eventual shoot though as we had to walk about a mile to and a mile back from the location and on the path back... the largest rattlesnake I've ever seen, in person, was in our path and luckily... I heard first, then saw it in time to stop Lisa & her daughter from getting to close to it. It scared us all to death but it took off as I think we scared it too.
Then had a great barbecue with friends and then shot fireworks in Downtown Jacksonville with them that night. Here's my favorite of each shoot...
As I predicted when I started, it's been awhile since I've posted on my blog, lol.
I just had my work with Pashence featured in Glam Jam Magazine's June issue though. It's always an honor to get published and I'm also looking forward to them using some more of my pics in future issues.
I also have been overwhelmed by the support for one of my recent images all over but especially on 500px. It was a shoot I did this past week with one of my favorite models, Amanda. I had envisioned this shoot for a long time and it just hit me one day that she was perfect for it and she really was. I don't think she even has modeling aspirations, she just enjoys "having some nice pics" of herself and I'm happy to have her in my work. The pic has, as of now, received nearly 700 votes and over 350 favorites on that site and had reached a 99.7 rating before falling off like they always do on there. Maybe someone reading this can explain while that happens, ha ha. Anyway, here's the photo, hope you like it.
I had a shoot this past Friday night with a new model to me, but one I'd be in contact with for some time via Facebook... Alia. She's one of my new favorites. Here is one of the photos from the shoot and a behind the scenes of the shoot as well. Click here to see the rest of the shoot!
General settings for this shoot were around f/8 at 1/200, ISO 100 over a dark gray background. I had two gridded thin softboxes behind her aimed at her to give her a highlit edge as well as a large octobox front left for a key light and a medium softbox front right to soften the shadows just a bit.
I recently had the honor of being asked to do an interview/feature with MyPhotoCentral.com. Here is the link to the actual article.
That also reminds me that last month, Haute Velvet did a blog post on my photography. That link is here!
I have also recently shot with some of my favorite models, here are a few from those shoots...
I had two shoots, with new models to me, this week. One was the lovely Lois Mae who I have another shoot coming up with soon...
and the other was with Ciara, another really pretty model that I was happy to get to shoot outdoors. I've been feeling couped up lately inside so it's good to get out and enjoy that 80 degree day in Florida in January! :)
Had two model shoots with week. One with a new to me model, Tiara, and one with one of my favorites that I had shot before... Jennifer, a member of the Roar, the Jacksonville Jaguars Cheerleading team.
Santa brought me a Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens for Christmas. :)
Here are some of my early captures with it.
Had an opportunity recently to get out with some of my best friends that are into photography (Rod Eugenio, Lisa Volpe & Troy Reichenbach) and we just made an afternoon & late evening of it. We got lucky enough to find a great spot for some bird photography, a little macro photography & had a great sunset & view too before going to our predetermined destination to do a little light painting after dark. Here are some of the photos.

Got to go home and visit the family in North Carolina for the holidays! Was good to be home and see my peeps! Got a chance to walk around my Aunt & Uncles farm before tearing into the feast and got a few shots I liked. You can see them here.
Here is a pano of the farm I took for them...
This was my favorite from the day though... just an old fashioned tired swing that I'm sure their grandchildren play on. Makes me think of simpler times & when I was a kid.
I'm looking forward to getting back to shooting some people this weekend although I always love shooting nature. I have a shoot with a fitness competitor on Sunday morning and am shooting my friend Lisa in a Holiday theme Sunday night! :)
This would be my first blog so we'll see where it goes. My prediction would be that I won't update it that often but you never know! ;)
Welcome to my photography website though. It's been far overdue and I'm glad I finally found a site that is simple & I don't have to be a web designer to make a simple, clean photography page. So far, I really like this site.
And for your visiting my page... here's a pic of a goat for you! :)
